It’s Time to Pick a Name for Delaware County’s Newest Park
Do you have a name for Delaware County’s 213-acre park on the former Don Guanella property in Marple?
Submit your suggestion, and if it’s chosen, you could win $250 and naming rights, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.
The Delaware County Name Our Park contest has been launched and runs until 5 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 31.
You’ll find a contest form here.
“Our Name Our Park contest invites you to be a part of history,” said Delaware County Council Vice President Elaine Paul Schaefer in a promotional video for the contest.
Submissions should reflect the values of the community, celebrate the county’s rich heritage, culture, and natural resources, and inspire a sense of inclusivity and togetherness.
The contest is open to county residents of all ages.
Marple Greenspace, a grassroots organization that advocated for the preservation of the property as a park, urged residents to get involved in the naming contest.
“Show your appreciation for everything that had to happen to get to this place,” wrote Marple Greenspace in a statement. “Give the park a name that no one a century from now will want to change,” it wrote in a statement.
