The future of manufacturing is in Newtown Square.

Or at least a reasonable facsimile of it.

SAP America, the U.S. headquarters of international software company SAP, has created a $4 million Industry 4.0 Center, a model factory that demonstrates the future of manufacturing.

It’s been attracting the attention of SAP’s Fortune 500 clients that include Coca-Cola, Pfizer and Moderna, Harley Davidson, General Motors, and Lockheed Martin, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The SAP factory of the future is one of only three in the world and the only one in the U.S.

The Center showcases autonomous robots using artificial intelligence. There are wearable, head-mounted displays that let factory workers view instructions and communicate with employees working remotely in real-time.

The center also demonstrates how to run operations and monitor an entire factory from a central control room.

“We wanted to be a bit more bold in how we demonstrated our capabilities,” said SAP North American President Lloyd Adams.

it’s also an effective recruiting tool. SAP’s already hosted high schools at the Center and wants to bring in local colleges and universities.
