Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, the former Brooklyn Net from Chester, hasn’t been seen in NBA circles for a while, but he re-emerged at the 2023 FIBA World Cup looking like former Lakers star Kobe Bryant, reports Easy Branches.

He has added fascination to the World Cup with a version of Mama Mentality honoring Bryant’s memory and capturing the hearts of Filipino fans.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson played as a naturalized citizen of Jordan, and he scored 39 points Monday night, including a dramatic four-point play with 10 seconds left that forced overtime.

He scored seven points in seven seconds late in the fourth quarter, giving Jordan a chance to beat New Zealand.

Though Jordan ultimately lost the game, fans chanted “Kobe!” as they watched Rondae Hollis-Jefferson play.

The Chester native who played some point guard in high school, has undergone a life and career renaissance, rediscovering his roots as he starts to look and play like the Los Angeles Lakers great.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson grew up idolizing Bryan. Now he’s cut his hair like Bryant, and wears an armband like Bryant along with his familiar No. 24.

He’s also mimicked his footwork and free throw routine.

“He’s a legend, and you can only dream of being compared to someone like him,” Hollis-Jefferson said.
