American Airlines buses will now allow travelers from Atlantic City or Lehigh Valley to clear security locally before they are shuttled to Philadelphia International, writes Ariana Perez-Castells for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

American Airlines is a major employer for PHL, operating out of five of the airport’s seven terminals.

The bus service is provided in partnership with the bus company Landline.

“For the first time ever, passengers who have already been through screening will be able to transit between two airports on something that isn’t an airplane,” said David Sunde, CEO of Landline.

A year ago June, American Airlines travelers could take a Landline bus from Atlantic City or Lehigh to PHL, but it was a curbside drop-off.

Now travelers will go through their local airport security to a gate as if they were boarding a flight and will be shuttled to their connecting gate at PHL.

The same scenario will play out on their return trip.

Passengers will make the journey “without the stress of wondering how long the [security] lines are, whether or not there’s parking available, or where their bags are. Everything’s taken care of for you,” said Sunde.
