Passengers can now travel between Lancaster and Philadelphia airports on a new American Airlines bus route, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The buses are run in partnership with motor coach operator Landline, based out of Colorado.

Back in June, shuttles started connecting Philadelphia International Airport to Atlantic City International Airport and Lehigh Valley International Airport exclusively for American Airlines passengers.

On Aug. 16, bus services was expanded to Lancaster with two daily trips out of Lancaster Airport at 5:40 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Two return buses depart PHL for Lancaster at 10:50 a.m. and 8:35 p.m.

American Airlines is the dominant carrier at PHL.

The bus service increases options for passengers who may find it cheaper to originate a flight in Lancaster than Philadelphia.  It could also save customers time checking bags and going through security.

The buses have free onboard Wi-Fi and outlets for business travelers.

“We look at it as we’re kind of changing the way airlines are doing business, which is cool,” David Sunde, Landline CEO, said. “More communities are going to have opportunities to the join the national travel system.”
