Radnor Boys’ Lacrosse Was Determined to Win, and They Did
The energy that had gone into the rivalry between Radnor boys lacrosse and Springfield reached its peak recently at the PIAA Class 3A state boys lacrosse championship game when Radnor High took an 8-1 victory, writes Jack McCaffery for PA PrepLive.
It was evident in how passionately the Radnor Raptors played, from the first to the fourth quarter, continuing to attack, hit, and swipe at rebounds.
This team was determined to prove that their 10-8 loss to the Springfield Cougars at an earlier District championship match was not normal
“They have been a rival for us,” said Radnor Raptors player Max Goldstein, who scored a goal. “And after that game, we said, ‘We’re not losing another game for the rest of this season. This is our year.’
That meant every time Radnor was on the field, they played their hearts out were fully committed.
Radnor played with attitude. Loose balls were chased with fury. Springfield rushes were met with a thud. Every shot it seemed was a mile an hour longer on exit velocity.
“That was not your imagination,” said Franklin & Marshall-bound Mason Montrella, who scored half of the Radnor goals. “There was definitely a lot of juice.”
