A former three-sport athlete from Radnor High School recently scored a big career goal by joining the leadership team of a year-old professional sports league for the nation’s fastest-growing sport.

Jazmine Smith has been named Director of League Diversity for the United Women’s Lacrosse League just ahead of its second-season opener in May, according to a report in The Huffington Post by Louis Bolling.

“As leaders in the women’s sports space, it takes creative and innovative solutions to get women in the game and keep them there,” said UWLX Co-Founder and CEO Digit Murphy. “Many companies have opted for solutions like job sharing; we are opting for a core management team of leaders to execute our strategy.”

After playing high school lacrosse, field hockey, and basketball at Radnor, Smith later started the nonprofits Victory for Vera and the Eyekonz Field Hockey and Lacrosse League in Philadelphia, which teaches both sport and life skills through “character development exercises, service leadership activities, and innovative educational experiences,” the article explained.

“I am humbled by this position and the opportunities it will present not only for the girls of Eyekonz and girls of color, but for women in sports as a whole,” Smith said.
