The newest ice cream shop in Narberth, Narberth Scoops, which opened in the former Village Treats location, is owned and operated by a group of local high schoolers, writes Max Bennett for the Patch.

Because it is run by students, Narberth Scoops, which officially opened its doors on June 3 at 236 Haverford Avenue, was only open on weekends until the school year was over.

Now for summer, the shop is open each day from noon to 9 p.m.

Visitors to the new dessert spot will find the highest quality Bassett’s ice cream being scooped and served by the local youths who are learning how to run a business.

“You know that amazing ice cream in Reading Terminal Market?” write the teens on their webpage. “It’s THAT ice cream! Except here in Narberth.”

And there are plenty of colorful flavors to choose from, including mint chocolate chip, salted caramel pretzel, strawberry, and mango apricot sorbet. Birthday cake and root beer float flavors are also available.
