1950s Ice Cream Shop in Levittown Still Serves Cool Treats to Beat the Heat

Gibby’s Ice Cream Store in Levittown is the perfect spot for those looking to cool down this summer.

Those in the Levittown area looking to cool down this summer can check out Gibby’s Ice Cream Store for a sweet treat, reports Jenn Frederick for Fox 29

Rich Reynolds and Karen Purcell Reynolds own the store, which first opened in the 1950s. The couple also runs a family law practice in Chester County.

Karen’s father, William, purchased the shop from the original owner in 1969, and it’s been in the family ever since.

“It’s called Gibby’s because the man that owned it before my father’s name is Paul Gibberman, and my dad didn’t want to change a thing,” said Karen.

Alongside delicious options like lemon water ice and Reese’s Pieces Sundae, Gibby’s is best known for their mint chocolate chip ice cream.

They’ve been using the same ice cream machines since the 1950s, blending top-notch ingredients to produce their signature flavors.

“You can tell that they love it here and they love us, and it makes work a great environment,” said Malia Vaughn, the store’s manager.

Karen expressed gratitude to their loyal customers and dedicated workers, all of whom contribute to the business’ success.
