Moms Help Other Struggling Moms With Delco Nonprofit

No one knows more than other moms about the struggles life can throw at you, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

Pauline Butcher of Linwood has created the nonprofit  “Delco Helping Hands, Spreading Positivity” to help people in the community find what they need.

“We’re trying to make it so people don’t have to go through the struggles we went through,” Butcher said.

She started the venture on Facebook just to see what kind of help she could offer neighbors.

Now Delco Helping Hands has grown into a community of thousands.

Butcher gets assistance from Kristin Miller and other moms who have gone through similar struggles.

“I was pregnant at 16, I had my son at 17. We lived in multiple places, I was homeless,” said Butcher.

Miller shares a similar story of sleeping in cars, living in hotels, crashing on other people’s couches.

Miller’s home is a central location for the nonprofit. She keeps a pantry of items like deodorant, lotion, and laundry detergent in her living room ready to lend to others who may go without so they can pay their bills.

Their goal is to open a pantry in every Delaware County school district.
