Kobe Bryant's 2011 casting of his hands and feet for display at Grauman's Chinese Theater.

NBA superstar and Lower Merion High School alumni Kobe Bryant has joined Hollywood stars of the past in a permanent tribute. His massive handprints in concrete have been installed outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Ariana Brockington of NBC’s Today reported on the ceremony that cements Bryant in the hearts of fans forever.

Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, and his daughters attended the Mar. 15 unveiling of the slab, which also includes the superstar’s footprints.

It is dated Feb. 19. 2011 (the day it was cast). And it displays his No. 24, one of his jersey identifiers as a Los Angeles Laker.

Natalia, Bryant’s eldest daughter, explained a sentimental link between him and the Southern California entertainment industry.

She recalled watching movies with him — Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Goonies — and the influence that experience had in forming her own desire to be a filmmaker.

“Each of those memories I will never forget,” she said.

“As you visit here for years to come, I encourage you to place your hands in his and take a moment to stand in his shoes,” she invited.

Bryan’s younger two daughters did just that, stepping into the oversized impressions left by their dad.

More on this high-profile, posthumous honor for Kobe Bryant is at Today.
