The ‘Rocky’ saga is probably best known for the famous and inspirational training scene in which Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky sprints up the long steps leading to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, writes Manohla Dargis for The New York Times.

Now, the apparently indestructible franchise continues in “Creed III,” a worthy addition to the story. The newest movie continues the story of Adonis Creed, the tough but tender heavyweight boxer played by Michael B. Jordan. Once again, he has to be knocked down before he can rise again, even higher this time.

Creed goes against his childhood friend Damian, played by Jonathan Majors. Damian is determined to reclaim his boxing glory and continue the trajectory that was put to a stop by a stay in prison.

As an actor-turned-director, Jordan works well with the performers, including Tessa Thompson, who reprises her role as his lover, now wife.

In this installment, Jordan is both the star of the movie and its director. While the movie might be predictable, it is just as entertaining as it provides a good balance of intimacy and spectacle, as well as grit and glamour.
