The Galer Estate, a Kennett Square vineyard, winery & Airbnb that incorporates new and old design in its architecture has lived many lives, often frequented by historical figures with the likes of British General William Howe and baseball legend Babe Ruth, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The latest identity of the 7.5-acre property is Galer Estate Vineyard and Winery, producing 2,800 cases of sparkling wine on an annual basis.

It’s now on the market for $3.395 million. The owners, Lele and Brad Galer, want to retain the character of the property and the eight employees that work there.

“I think it’s time for somebody else’s new energy to come in and call it their own, but we really don’t want it to be leveled,” said Lele.

The award-winning estate is adjacent to Longwood Gardens, making it a draw for tourism. The main house has two tasting rooms, a crush pad, a wine cellar, a fermentation room, and other facilities involved in the wine-producing process.

The architecture, designed by Lele herself, incorporates a gate from a French chateau, stained glass, and even steps from Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.

A cottage on the estate serves as a one bed and one bath Airbnb that overlooks the vineyard. The landscaping on the estate was designed by Michael Petrie, who has earned many accolades from the Philadelphia Flower Show.
