Sun Center Studios in Aston, Delaware County’s film and production center, is getting a new sound stage and offices with the hope of attracting more film and television projects to the area, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The work is being paid for with a $10 million state grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

Other major projects coming to Delco, thanks to the RACP grants:

  • William Penn School District is getting $7 million to modernize and upgrade three schools. The multipurpose Kerr Field will get new turf, lighting, a locker room, and a fieldhouse. It is the first major renovation the district has seen in the last decade.
  • Riddle Memorial Hospital will receive $6 million to reconstruct its intensive care unit, a new triage space, and waiting room capacity.
  • Interboro High School will use $4 million to replace a failing roof, expand administrative offices and make infrastructure improvements.
  • Philadelphia Union, just back from the 2022 MLS Cup Final, received $4 million toward its WSFS Bank Sportsplex in Chester which will have indoor and outdoor fields, plus amenities.

In total, the RACP awarded $339 million to 199 projects in the Philadelphia area in 2022.
