In a short time, the Philadelphia Union record book will be all about 2022.

And closing in is the MLS record book which again could be all about the Philadelphia Union in 2022, writes Greg Oldfield for brotherlygame.com.

The Philadelphia Union is on a roll as records are being broken and the Union is turning what has been a remarkable season into an epic one.

The Union has scored 23 goals in the last 5 games. That’s three more than any team in league history for a five-game stretch.

The team has only conceded 22 goals this season, an important statistic. The Union could finish second all-time in the fewest goals allowed per game in a single season.

“It’s an amazing accomplishment,” said Union coach Jim Curtin after a game against Orlando. “to not concede goals is obviously the name of the game, and it’s something that makes me proud.”

The Union also scored 68 goals this season, surpassing the club-record 58 set in 2019, but still below the  MLS record of 85 set in 1998 by the LA Galaxy and again by LAFC in 2019.
