Now that the Phillies are heading to the World Series, Wawa has decided to extend its Phillie-centric SchwarberFest promotion for the rest of the postseason, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The HoagieFest-like promotion is named for Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber. It features $5 Shortis and $6 Classic hoagies.

SchwarberFest kicked off before playoff Game 1, hoping it would encourage Schwarber to hit better in the National League Championship.

The magic behind the promotion is that Schwarber hit 12 home runs and racked up 27 RBIs back in June when HoagieFest ran.  The thought was he could do it again if there was a similar promotion running.

In fact, the night Wawa announced SchwarberFest, Schwarber hit a home run off the San Diego Padres’ Yu Davish during Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.

The ball traveled 488 feet at 119.7 mph, the longest ever hit in Petco Park and the longest in Schwarber’s career.

Bryce Harper even credited the promotion at a postgame news conference when asked about Schwarber’s active performance in the last few games.

“I guess I’ll thank Wawa for the Schwarber thing,” Harper said.
