Springfield Restaurant Raises Awareness of Premature Birth

By

Steve and Jenna DeVito have dealt with insurmountable heartache as parents. They’ve lost two of their first children to premature birth. Now they’re channeling their grief into the community, with their new charity-oriented restaurant in Springfield. Dom & Mia’s honors the memory of their two lost children, Domenico James and Mia Isabella, writes Natalie Jason for 6 ABC.

The DeVitos wanted to use the upscale neighborhood restaurant to raise awareness about premature births. They use their business’s proceeds to go towards March of Dimes and Lankenau NICU.

The restaurant offers an array of casual comfort food. Guests can enjoy pizzas made in a brick oven flown in from Italy and smoked turkey legs and stuffing, which is on the seasonal menu. Adults can also sip on some classic cocktails.

“We do want that comfort food, we want that family, what you would eat at the dinner table,” said executive chef Joseph McIntyre.

They’re now parents to two healthy kids, four-year-old Emma and one-year-old Vincenzo.

“They know that they have a brother and sister in heaven, and it’s just nice that they can share that with everyone too and it’s part of their life growing up.”
