A love story spurred by the shared loss of two fathers now has ties to Roz & Rocco’s, a new restaurant in Broomall, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Christine Nigro grew up in Broomall and went on to have a career in restaurant management.

She met Scott Brayton, a Kentucky native, at Atlantic Grill at Lincoln Center. Brayton swiveled from insurance career to restaurants.

They fell in love, got married, and had two daughters.

The couple wanted to open their own restaurant and started looking around for space.

“He found one—and it was like a mile from where I grew up,” Nigro said.

Roz & Rocco’s is a cheery, homey BYOB that opened over the summer at 2904 West Chester Pike in Broomall.

It is named after their fathers.

Scott’s father (Roswell), a marathon runner, passed away young in 2007 from a heart attack.

Christine’s father (Rocco) passed away unexpectedly in 2014.  The loss sparked a friendship and brought the couple together.

The restaurant leans strongly toward Nigro’s Italian American family.

Chef Ned Maddock, last at White Dog Cafe’s locations in Wayne and Glen Mills, has created an Italianesque menu.

Find out more about what Roc and Rocco’s has to offer at The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Christine Nigro talks about the new restaurant on the “What’s Happening Delco podcast.
