Here’s the Best Delaware County Small Town to Raise a Family

For those who prefer the slower pace of suburban living as a comfy place to start a family, consider this list of towns from Stacker.com.

Several Pennsylvania places made the list of the 100 best small towns to raise a family in the nation, and Swarthmore is among them, according to a new ranking published by Stacker.

Stacker looked at several factors including public schools, jobs, and the cost of living, among many others. Only places with a population under 40,000 were considered.

Swarthmore, with a population of 6,304, ranked 11th in the nation and fifth in Pennsylvania.

The town has a median home value of $410,100, a median rent of $1,169, and a median household income of $109,648.

It is best known for being the home of Swarthmore College. However, there are many other places that are frequented by locals, such as Scott Arboretum and the Town Center Business District.

Swarthmore students also have an opportunity to go to the highly-rated Wallingford-Swarthmore School District.

Meanwhile, according to the survey results, the best small town to raise a family in the country is Chesterbrook in neighboring Chester County.
