Forbes: Swarthmore Ranks 10th Among America’s Top Colleges, Better Than Four Ivies, Including Penn

Swarthmore College checked in at No. 10 in Forbes magazine’s recently released list of the Top 660 colleges in the country.

As the highest-ranked school in the state, Swarthmore bested the University of Pennsylvania (No. 11), as well as three other Ivy League colleges: Columbia (No. 16), Dartmouth (No. 17), and Cornell (No. 29).

Among the other prestigious schools that Forbes rated Swarthmore higher than include Amherst, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Tufts, and Georgetown.

Swarthmore’s Delaware County peer, Haverford College, ranked 23rd.

Swarthmore has a student population of 1,542, as only 17 percent of applicants are admitted to the college. The student-to-faculty ratio is 8-to-1.

Room and board cost $64,363 annually. However, students receive an average of $36,328 each year in financial aid.
