Aqua Pennsylvania announced that $2.8 million in water main replacement projects are underway in Glenolden and Lansdowne boroughs. This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve reliability for customers throughout Delaware County.

Crews are working to replace 4,581 feet of aging 6-inch water mains with new 8-inch ductile iron water mains in Lansdowne Borough. The $1.6 million project is taking place on the following streets:

  • Richards and Bryn Mawr avenues between Shadeland and Eldon avenues
  • Eldon Avenue between West Greenwood Avenue and Burmont Road
  • Rose Lane between both ends of Richards Avenue

In Glenolden Borough, crews are working to replace 4,649 feet of aging 6-inch water mains with new 4-, 6-, and 8-inch ductile iron water mains. The $1.2 million project is taking place on the following streets:

  • East Ashland Avenue between North Glen and South Woodland avenues
  • South Glen Avenue between East Ashland and East Knowles avenues
  • Stuart Avenue between house No. 6 and South Glen Avenue
  • East Knowles Avenue between Chester Pike and the end of the street
  • Logan and East Boone avenues between Chester Pike and South Glen Avenue
  • South Woodland Avenue between East Ashland Avenue and the cul-de-sac

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by November. Final road restoration is expected to be completed by spring 2023, weather permitting.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area. These projects are part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced more than 46 miles of aging main in Delaware County in 2021.
