The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth (“TLC”) in Audubon is a social enterprise company serving the Greater Philadelphia Area for over 50 years.

Founded in 1970 and incorporated in 1983, TLC is an entrepreneurial nonprofit providing innovative education, coaching, and counseling services to public school students and their  families.

The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth is hiring for the following positons:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will work with elementary, middle, and/or high school students at a Philadelphia-based charter school to study the behavior of students and create plans to improve or change problematic behaviors.

They will work with students who have developmental disabilities, brain injuries or emotional control, social or behavioral issues. They will help students manage issues such as stress or anger in healthier ways or achieve personal behavior goals.

The BCBA at the Lincoln Center will:

• Meet with students and parents to observe and assess student behavior;

• Meet with families, teachers or doctors to discuss the student’s treatment and progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues;

• Develop individual plans to correct, maintain or improve certain behaviors;

• Help clients set and meet behavior goals;

• Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for students and their families;

• Conduct research and applying findings to their work

The BCBA candidate must have successfully completed an internship and/or formal training in behavior analysis. They should have applied behavior management and analysis skills, communication, organizational and interpersonal relations skills, and the ability to work with a variety of clients in age, functionality and with minimal direction.

The BCBA candidate must have a master’s degree and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification.

English Teacher

The English Teacher provides academic instruction and socioemotional support to at-risk youth, grades 7-12, in an alternative school setting. In an open, small classroom environment. 

The English Teacher must demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in serving the individualized instructional needs of the students assigned to the class. He or she must be able to work in a team environment with other educators, special education staff, counselors, and social workers.

The teacher should possess a high degree of authenticity, kindness, and empathy while effectively maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to academic and socioemotional growth.

In this position you will:

  • Develop a classroom culture where the Teacher is viewed as “facilitator” of the learning process and not a “lecturer”;
  • Plan, prepare and implement lesson plans that facilitate active learning;
  • Provide personalized support to each student to develop learning plans that matches each student’s needs and abilities;
  • Utilize Project-Based Learning (PBL) techniques;
  • Leverage technology to support and differentiate instruction;
  • Develop a multi-sensory learning environment;
  • Promote the overall wellness (physical, mental, social, emotional) of each student;
  • Conduct Assessments;
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, test and assignments;
  • Build positive, compassionate classroom communities that engage learners;
  • Implement evidenced based classroom management and positive behavior support strategies;

Other duties include:

  • Actively participate in department, school, district and parent meetings;
  • Initiate and maintain close contact with parents/guardians of each student;
  • Communicate information regularly to students, parents, and districts regarding student progress and student needs;
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations;
  • Assesse, record, and report on the development, progress, goal attainment and behavior of students;
  • Attend meetings as scheduled and necessary with counselors, other staff and other members of the Public School District;

Candidates for this position must have excellent communication and relationship building skills and have the ability to work effectively on a multi-treatment team.

Candidates must be proficient in the subject matter taught and have knowledge and experience with Microsoft programs.

A Bachelor’s Degree and Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in the subject taught is required.

College and Career Coach

The College and Career Coach will provide college preparation services for middle and/or high school students in a Montgomery County School District in order to meet the requirements of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program.

The GEAR UP program is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant and provides services and resources to a cohort of students with the goal of increasing high school graduation and college awareness, acceptance, and readiness.

The College and Career Coach will:

• Provide direct academic tutoring assistance, with an emphasis in middle and high school math or science;

• Provide a variety of academic materials and resources;

• Ensure high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of subjects while maintaining high flexibility;

• Assess, record and report on students’ development, progress, goal attainment and behavior;

• Encourage and monitor the progress of students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;

• Communicate necessary information regularly to students and school staff regarding students’ progress and needs;

• Increase college awareness and readiness by assisting in GEAR UP activities including counseling, mentoring, tutoring, remediation, enrichment, summer programs, college visits, job shadowing, and financial literacy workshops;

• Assist in coordination of coaching, counseling, mentoring, and tutoring activities at participating schools;

• Assist teachers with planning and delivering of tutoring and mentoring services;

• Collaborate and coordinate with district personnel, school staff, and GEAR UP partners to provide services and resources to participating cohort students;

• Act as the liaison between TLC and School District administration and teachers;

• Collaborate with GEAR UP evaluator to track all student-level activities;

• Maintain accurate documentation of service objectives and outcomes as well as other services in accordance with GEAR UP guidelines;

• Attend required meetings, training/education, including GEAR UP conferences as requested

The College and Career Coach should possess strong middle and high school math and/or science skills. They should have strong relationship- and team-building skills and the ability to communicate clearly.

Candidates should have strong organizational skills, the ability to be flexible and meet deadlines, have multi-tasking capabilities and be detail-oriented.

An Associates or Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in Math or Science instruction is preferred.
