Immaculata University has announced that Sister Antoine Therese Lawlor, IHM ’71 assumes the position of vice president for Mission and Ministry—only the second IHM Sister to serve in this capacity.

Before returning to Pennsylvania and her alma mater, Sister Antoine spent ten years as the assistant to the vice president and academic dean for the Catholic Theological Union (CTU), the largest graduate theology school in the U.S., located in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to that, she served in the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey, most recently as the director of Pastoral Priorities. She had been the assistant superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Camden from 1996-2002. In addition, she was assigned to various dioceses throughout her career, working as a teacher and principal.

Graduating from CTU in 2005 with an Ecumenical Doctor of Ministry in Spirituality, she was honored to be named a Bernardin Scholar from 2003-2005, studying the leadership skills and pastoral methods of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. She also earned a master’s in religious education from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, and a bachelor’s degree in theology from Immaculata University. From 1999 to 2002, Sister Antoine was named a National Catechetical Scholar from the National Catholic Education Association.

Over the years, Sister Antoine has shared her expertise at various workshops, retreats and educational opportunities. In addition, she has also prepared written resources and articles related to catechism, faith formation and spirituality.

“It is with much joy that I return to a place of origin – and one that has always been dear to my heart. I have been on the Chicago scene for many years which I also treasured, but there is no place like home and there are no better colleagues than my own sisters, the IHM community,” said Sister Antoine on her appointment to Immaculata University. “I look forward to meeting the current Immaculata community and sharing our common heritage, mission and ministry.”
