Crozer Health Cuts Trigger Delaware County Response to Find Another Way
In light of new shutdowns coming on critical behavioral healthcare services in the county provided by Crozer Health, Delaware County officials are taking steps to find alternative help, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.
Crozer, thorough its parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, plans to end an outpatient substance abuse clinic at Delaware County Memorial Hospital on June 10. A day later, the “First Steps” inpatient acute substance abuse and addiction unit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland would close.
On June 19, the Crisis Center at Chester Crozer Medical Center will close, along with all mental health and substance abuse treatment services at the Community Campus in Chester.
Sandra Garrison, director of the county Department of Human Services, says the county is working on solutions.
“In addition to the conversations with Prospect, the county has engaged in discussions with current and potential providers to fill the voids left by Prospect’s departure.”
Garrison’s department has met with agencies currently contracted with the county to see if they can accept new clients. It is also talking with providers interested in coming into the county.
“We will move forward with or without Prospect,” said Delaware County Councilman Richard Womack.
