This Delco Community Gives You a Bit More Rental Space for Your Hard-Earned $1,500

The space in an apartment is one of the most important features when choosing a place to rent.

Assuming the average monthly rent in Pennsylvania is $1,500, how much apartment space does that buy you?

In Upper Darby, it’ll get you 954 square feet.  That’s the largest apartment available for the price in the Philadelphia Metro Area, according to Mihaela Buzec for rentalcafe.com.  The next largest in the Philly Metro Area is in Pottstown, at 936 square feet and Horsham, at 932 square feet.

A local breakdown shows that your $1,500 gets you a slightly smaller apartment in Drexel Hill, at 895 square feet, while in Secane, you’ll only get on average 800 square feet for $1,500. 

The average for Pennsylvania is 869 square feet of apartment space, 4% more than the national average. That’s based on rentcafe.com research looking at 36 cities in Pennsylvania. 

Carlisle had the largest and Philadelphia had the smallest apartments for $1,500, with 1,303 square feet in Carlisle and 679 square feet in Philadelphia. 

Of the 36 cities analyzed, you can get an apartment larger than 900 square feet in 19 locations around Pennsylvania.
