Interboro Senior Gets $1M in Scholarship Offers Thanks to Hard Work +a Good Story

By

Interboro High School senior Brianna Maddonni has managed to generate $1.09 million in scholarship offers, writes Becca Hendrickson for 6abc.com.

Maddonni has been accepted to 18 schools.

“I revised my college essay several times, and I applied to all the scholarships that I could, and if they had an honors college I applied to the honors college,” she explained.

Maddonni carries a 4.0 GPA, plays varsity lacrosse, works two jobs, and coaches youth sports.

“Students think they’re not going to get them, so there’s a lot of scholarships that are available to students that they don’t know about because they don’t try,” said Interboro guidance counselor Jasmine Woodson.

Maddonni thinks it’s her essay that sets her apart

She has a generic hearing loss and for a long time didn’t want to wear a hearing aid.

“I was afraid of what everybody else would think of me since not everybody had them, so I would train myself to hear the teacher so that I didn’t have to wear them,” she said.

Her academic career took off when she took stock of her own self-worth and started wearing the hearing aid.

She’s glad to see her hard work paid off.
