Penn State Brandywine is one of 19 Penn State Commonwealth Campuses across the state. It is located on 112 acres at 25 Yearsley Mill Road in Media.  It offers four-year baccalaureate degree programs in 14 fields of study and two associate degree programs.

The following positions in the Penn State system and at Penn State Brandywine are available:

Director of Innovation and Enterprise

The Director will be an innovative leader and manager of the newly-opened Brandywine LaunchBox powered by Penn State, located in the Utility Works Makerspace in Lansdowne.

The Director will serve on the Chancellor’s senior leadership team; engage the Penn State Brandywine Advisory Board and Penn State Brandywine Alumni Society, and lead and serve on key campus and university committees and task forces.

The Director will network with business and industry, civic and community, and k12 and higher education partners. The Brandywine LaunchBox intent is to spur economic development, job creation, and student career success through partnerships.

He or she will collaborate with the Directors for Development, Strategic Communications, Finance & Business, Information Technology, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs,

He or she will attend events, serve on boards and committees, and engage with stakeholders.

The Director will work to achieve a sustainable business model for the Brandywine LaunchBox and potential new innovation spaces, programs, and events.

They will develop new funding streams and will be responsible for budget planning, management and accountability.

He or she will support staff, advisory board members, business and civic partners, donors, alumni, student interns and others.

They will utilize research and data to continuously improve and create unique experiences such as workshops, seminars, speaker series, camps, etc.

They will promote and tell success stories from the Brandywine LaunchBox by providing content development for marketing and communications.

Candidates for this position must have a Master’s Degree or higher, preferably in Business, Communications, Education, or related field, plus 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional qualifications include a track record for producing tangible results, having an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication and relational skills, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, project management skills, knowledge of the current and emerging trends in the future of work, experience or ability to learn budget planning and resource allocation, supervisory or people experience, fundraising and grand development experience,

Successful experience or willingness to learn fundraising and grant development and administration, in collaboration with colleagues and partners, participation in advocacy and government relations, ability to use data and predictive analytics for planning and assessment.

Residential Education Specialist 1

The Residence Life Office is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team.

Penn State and Residence Life is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms.  

The Residential Education Specialist will supervise a staff of up to 20 Resident Assistants, as well as oversee the daily activities of buildings housing up to 400 students.

Responsibilities include conducting regular individual and group supervision meetings, evaluating resident assistant performance, providing support and training of staff, creating a residential curriculum, assisting with development of campus-wide initiatives, advising student groups, making referrals to University agencies, encouraging student involvement, promoting area government, advocates for students with concerns or issues, advises individual students with academic, career and personal concerns,  enforces University and resident hall policies and procedures, mediates conflicts, handles requests for room changes, promotes safety and security,  develops working relationships with Housing and Food Services, Safety and Security, New Student Programs, etc., provides on-call duty coverage,

This position requires a Master’s degree. A Master’s degree or higher in Student Personnel/Counseling or related area is preferred. The applicant should possess a thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living in student development.

A driver’s license is preferred.

Residence Hall Utility Worker

Penn State Brandywine Housing and Food Services is searching for a full-time Residence Hall Utility Worker to join their team.

Duties include:

Empty and clean waste containers, remove and dispose of all trash and debris from the building, move bags and carts of accumulated linens, move and deliver furnishings, linen and operational supplies, open cartons, move trunks, suitcases and other items to and from student rooms, clean floors and stairs, clean carpets, move furniture and other items to allow for cleaning, repairs, transfer, set up, etc., assemble and disassemble furniture, shovel snow, spread sawdust or calcium and sweep outside buildings as required, empty outside trash containers, clean window wells, secure and open buildings, keep equipment clean and properly stored, keep storage areas clean, report maintenance problems, lamp and re-lamp lighting fixtures.

Job requires use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices, over one and up to two months of qualifying or on-the-job training.
