Comedian Wanda Sykes of Media to Co-host Academy Awards This Year

Media resident and comedian Wanda Sykes will be co-hosting the 2022 Academy Awards with Regina Hall and Amy Schumer, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

The Academy announced the three hosts for the March 27 ceremony.  

The 57-year-old resides in two places—Media Borough and Cherry Grove, New York.  The stand-up comedian wrote for The Chris Rock Show, winning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999, according to Wikipedia.

In 2004, Sykes was named by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 25 funniest people in America.

She’s appeared in several movies and TV shows over the years, including HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Blackish”, “The Good Fight”, and “Monster-in-Law. She is currently starring in the Netflix original series “The Upshaws.”

She will be one of several people from the Philadelphia region at the Oscars this year.

Philadelphia’s Will Smith has been nominated for Best Actor for the biopic “King Richard” which has been nominated for Best Picture.

 Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots will be there for his film, the documentary feature “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised).” Malvern’s Adam McKay will also be attending, for his film and screenplay “Don’t Look Up.”
