Honorees Named for April 8 Chamber Small Business Awards Luncheon

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will honor several local small businesses at its annual Small Business Awards luncheon scheduled for Friday, April 8, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Drexelbrook  Catering and Corporate Event Center, Drexelbrook Drive and Valley Road in Drexel Hill. 

The Chamber has announced its 2022 Small Business Awards Honorees in several categories.

Mendoza Group, Inc., headquartered in Newtown Square, has been named Small Business of the Year.

Owned by Mia Mendoza, Mendoza Group Inc. is the first full-service Hispanic marketing and advertising agency in Pennsylvania.

It opened in March 1995. It has grown from a small ad shop serving local, ethnic markets to a full-service national marketing agency.

William Gowie, Jr., Managing Partner at Barsz Gowie Amon & Fultz, LLC, a full-service accounting firm in Chadds Ford, has been named Small Business Person of the Year.

 Gowie conducts tax preparation and business planning for small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as individuals.  He uses his first-hand knowledge and experience as a managing partner to advise his clients on effectively operating their own profitable businesses.

Pinocchio’s Restaurant in Media has been named the Family Business of the Year.

Pinocchio’s Restaurant opened in 1955, the first pizzeria in Delaware County and the oldest restaurant in Media.  Pinnochio’s has been family-run for three generations.

Its award-winning Beer Garden to Go was added in 2009. offering over 1,000 varieties of craft beer as well as domestic imports.

Frank Agovino, owner of Catering & Events by DiFabio’s and Media Bean Café, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year. DiFabio’s offers corporate, in-house, or offsite catering with a banquet facility in Springfield and Media.

The Chamber’s Community Impact Award will be presented to Ford Brothers.

Keynote speaker at the award luncheon is Bryan Quigley, owner of Stateside Urbancraft Vodka, a distillery in Philadelphia and the Federal Distilling Room, a full-service cocktail lounge at the distillery.
