One of the key roles of The Foundation for Delaware County is to help nonprofits in the county expand and improve services. One way it does that is by connecting donors and nonprofit organizations with grants to help them fulfill and grow their mission.

But the Foundation also helps these local nonprofits with professional development, promoting leadership skills that will make nonprofit organizations more successful.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence

A 2019 study from the Foundation showed that nonprofit leaders, managers, and staff want to build up their workforce capacity. They also want management training, business development and peer support.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence was created to meet those needs.

The Center helps nonprofits form productive partnerships so they can support each other.

Peer Learning Circles

One way to do that is through Peer Learning Circles for executive directors and senior staff leaders.

The Circles provide a collaborative opportunity for nonprofit leaders in Delaware County to come together for reflective learning, problem-solving, peer support, and individual growth, with guidance from seasoned consultants and speakers.

The Executive Director Peer Learning Circle is open to all executive directors or CEOs serving Delaware County nonprofits.  The emphasis is on meeting the leadership needs of small- to mid-size organizations.

The Senior Staff Leaders Peer Learning Circle helps aspiring leaders at Delaware County’s nonprofits develop new skills, bring their contributions to the nonprofit sector and enhance their careers.

The Senior Staff Leaders Peer Circle is open to those who have supervisory or management roles in the organization and report directly to organizational leadership.

Applications

The next call for applicants and cohorts of Peer Learning Circles will be launching in Spring 2022.

Nonprofit Management Certificate

The Center now hosts an online Delaware County Nonprofit Job Board that highlights leadership, senior staff and related career opportunities for the Foundation’s grantees and nonprofit partners.
