A list of 61 top family-owned businesses headquartered or founded in the Greater Philadelphia Region includes seven from Delaware County, write Sharon Oliver for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The top 50 companies, ranked by local employees, employ 10,917 workers in the region and 89,928 employees companywide throughout 931 offices that reach beyond the Philadelphia area.

Nolan Painting Inc., in Havertown ranked highest on the list at No. 23 among companies from Delaware County. The company has 105 employees.

A&E Construction in Upper Darby was 25^th on the list.  Founded in 1978 the construction company began with four employees and currently has over 70 full time workers.

A general contracting and construction management company, Target Building Construction Inc. in Crum Lynne, came in 27^th.  It has 85 long-term employees.

Arora Engineers in Chadds Ford ranked 29^th on the list. The company was established in 1986. They have 84 employees.

The Safeguard Group Inc. in Media , an insurance  broker and risk management consulting firm, made 32^nd on the list.  It was founded in 1994 and has 60 employees.

RE/MAX Classic in Wayne came in at No. 51 on the list. The real estate company has been around for 30 years, founded in 1990 by Brett and Scott Furman. It has 15 employees.
