Bryn Mawr filmmaker Josh Raff recently premiered his short film, 'Man Down.'

For a time, the pandemic forced Josh Raff to leave his New York residence in March 2020 and move back home with his parents in Bryn Mawr.

Now almost two years later, Raff has documented the experience in his new film, “Man Down,” writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

Raff, his parents Barry and Micki and their dog Nash, star in the film, playing themselves.

“Man Down” is shot at Raff’s parents’ home and Bryn Mawr neighborhood and at a Conshhocken restaurant owned by a friend.

He described the experience living with his parents as “somewhat traumatic,” even though he was grateful for their generosity in allowing him to move back to his childhood home.

Everyday life generated a wealth of material for the script.

Raff was inspired after a friend created a short film about a couple reengaging after a break up. He realized his experience would best be told as a short film.

Raff’s father is a cardiologist affiliated with Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, and Springfield Hospital.

His mother is a retired Emergency Room nurse.

Novice actors in the beginning, they ended up enjoying the experience, Raff said.
