Essential Utilities and Aqua Pennsylvania contributed $25,000 to Laurel House’s campaign to build a new Safe Haven Center in Lansdale.

Laurel House has been a trusted and respected resource in Montgomery County for more than 40 years and offers hope and healing to women, men, and children devastated by domestic abuse. This new location is close to public transportation, job training programs, employment opportunities, and many other community resources.

Those pictured above from the Aug. 11 check presentation include (from left) Montgomery County Commissioners’ Vice Chair Ken Lawrence Jr.; Laurel House Senior Director Tina Quinci; State Rep. Matt Bradford; Former Laurel House Board Co-President Dr. Colleen Lelli; Essential Utilities Chairman and CEO Christopher Franklin; Former Laurel House Co-President Mary Alfarano; Laurel House Director of Development Betsy Kilkenny; Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca; and Laurel House Assistant Director of Shelter and Housing Freda Cannon.

Aqua began in 1886 when a group of Swarthmore College professors started an association to supply spring water to Springfield Township residents. The association was eventually incorporated as the number of new customers grew.

Today, Aqua provides water and wastewater services to more than 3 million people in 8 states and continues to grow its operations through acquisitions.
