The attention to detail in Mare of Easttown and its authenticity has earned it 16 Emmy nominations, writes Dave Itzkoff for The New York Times.

Kate Winslet got a lead actress nomination for her performance as Mare Sheehan.

Nominations also went to co-stars Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart and Evan Peters. 

Mare of Easttown creator and Archbishop Carroll graduate Brad Ingelsby got one for best writing and Craig Zobel was nominated for best directing.

From Delaware County’s point of view, the best nominations may have been the technical categories for creating a successful Delco vibe.  ‘Mare’ has been nominated for excellence in wardrobe, makeup, hairstyling and production design.

The series was also nominated as outstanding limited or anthology series.

 “I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a nomination — nominations for the show,” Winslet said. “I feel proud of everybody. I feel that we were all in this together and to have received so much recognition for something that was unbelievably [expletive] tough and hard on all of us.

It was a thrill making her character authentic to Ingelsby’s writing, Winslet said, she’s glad that was appreciated and noticed.
