Villanova University Athletes, Alumni Well Represented at U.S. Olympic Trials
Four track & field student-athletes from Villanova University and two alumni are competing this week at U.S. Olympic Trials June 18-27, reports Villanova University.
For the woman’s team, athletes are McKenna Keegan, Sanaa Barnes and Lydia Olivere.
Sean Dolan is from the men’s team.
Villanova graduates Angel Piccirillo and Sam Ellison make their Olympic Trials debut.
Sanaä Barnes competed in the qualifying round of the women’s high jump June 18 with a lifetime best mark of `1.85 meters.
Sean Dolan and Sam Ellson ’14 competed in the first round of the men’s 800 meters June 18.
Dolan has the eighth fastest time recorded by a Villanova runner.
Ellison is a multiple All-American, BIG EAST champion and All-BIG EAST performer.
Lydia Olivere qualified in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She has lowered her own school record for the third time this year to 9:49.88.
McKenna Keegan earned her qualification in the 800 meters when she ran a lifetime best of 2:01.25 on May 29, ranking third overall in the Villanova record books.
Angel Piccirillo ’16 is one of the most accomplished athletes in Villanova history. She holds the record for the most Championship of America watches won by a collegiate woman in Penn Relays history.
