Delaware County’s New COVID-19 Cases Jump Up Above 100 on Wednesday

One new COVID-19-related death from Upper Darby Township was reported Wednesday, June 2, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,447 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 838 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site reported 152 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County for Wednesday, June 2. Total cases are 49,301.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 747, affecting 11.50 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,326 cases reported, or 8.83 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 247,761 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 94.96 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 8,261 cases
  • 30 to 39: 7,313 cases

  • 70 to 79: 2,794 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,669 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, June 2, there were 580 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,203,443.

The state is reporting 45 COVID-19 deaths for Wednesday, June 2. Total deaths are 27,259.
