Delaware County’s New COVID-19 Cases Remain Low for Holiday Weekend

Two new COVID-19-related deaths from Darby Township and Collingdale have been reported Tuesday, June 1, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,446 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 838 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site reported 141 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County Tuesday, since Friday, May 29. Total cases are 49,149.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 745, affecting 11.47 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,305 cases reported, or 8.80 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 247,452 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 94.81 percent recovery rate.

  • Under 10: 2,497 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,940 cases
  • 20 to 29: 8,235 cases
  • 30 to 39: 7295 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.620 cases
  • 50 to 59: 7,405 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,693 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,792 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,671 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, June 1, there were 2,320 new cases of COVID-19 statewide since last reported Friday, May 28. Total cases now number 1,202,863.

The state is reporting 27  COVID-19 deaths for Tuesday, June 1. Total deaths are 27,214.
