American Airline Update: Flight Schedule Impact at Philadelphia Airport

By

An average of two flights a day are being canceled by American Airlines out of Philadelphia International Airport, reports Howard Monroe for Philadelphia.cbslocal.com.

The cancellations, due to weather and staffing shortages, come just as everyone’s ready again to hop on an airplane.

American is the largest carriers in the U.S. with a major hub here at the Philadelphia Airport.

“I think it feels like freedom a little bit to get out of the house and to go away like we used to,” said Jaime Criscuolo, who was at Philadelphia Airport ready to go to Disney.

TSA screened more than 2.1 million passengers nationwide Sunday – the highest since the pandemic began.

AAA reports 71% of the people they surveyed said they will be taking an out-of-state trip this summer.

Cara Dias and her father Alan are going to Indiana to look at colleges.

“This is a big decision,” Dias said. “Virtual tours are cool but you don’t get the same kind of feel, you know?”

Even with the inconvenience of cancelled flights, Dias says it’s just great to be out again.

“We’re excited to be able to go out and travel again, do what we used to do,” Dias said.
