COVID-19 Cases in Delaware County Higher, but Still Under 200 for Friday

Four new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Friday, April 30, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Friday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,388 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 829 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

One fatality was reported from Nether Providence, 1 from Upper Providence, 1 from Darby Township, and 1 from Ridley Park.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New COVID cases

There were 166 new cases reported for Friday, April 30. Total cases are 46,800.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 734, affecting 11.30 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,924 cases reported, or 8.34 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 233,541 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.55 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 7,838 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,913 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.317 cases

  • 70 to 79: 2,700 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,629 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 30, there were 4,607 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,151,005.

The state is reporting 39 COVID-19 deaths for Friday, April 30. Total COVID-19 deaths are at 26,218.
