Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack (in Chester) has been referred to or made cameo appearances in, notable productions of late, like Mare of Easttown on HBO and Concrete Cowboy on Netflix, writes Kevin Shelly for playpennsylvania.com.

It is, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the first reference on film to any Pennsylvania casino.

Harrah’s got a cameo in Concrete Cowboy and three brief references in Mare’s episode 5.

Concrete Cowboy features Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin. Netflix describes it as a story of a rebellious teen who spends the summer with a tight-knit Philadelphia community of Black cowboys.

There’s a brief appearance of the racetrack at Harrah’s, which was noted on Harrah’s Facebook page.

A thoroughbred is running on the unidentified racecourse.  Two urban Black cowboys are sitting in the grandstands, easily spotted as being at Harrah’s.

The scene runs a full 90 seconds.

In Mare of Easttown, Harrah’s comes up in when a woman named Tammy talks to Mare about a missing girl “hanging outside the Harrah’s on the river.”

The popular casino gets three more mentions.

Chester and Marcus Hook also make appearances.
