Delco Beads in Drexel Hill Born of Sisters’ Love of Bracelet Making, Helping Others

By

Two Drexel Hill sisters, 9 and 12, won’t let their age stop them from running a successful business, reports Katherine Scott for 6abc.com.

“It doesn’t matter what age you are,” said 9-year-old Sophia De Guio.

She and her sister, Ava, 12, have turned out hundreds of hand-made bracelets since August for their company, Delco Beads.

The girls have a bracelet-making station in the dining room, where they work two hours a day filling orders, putting bracelets together, then bagging and shipping them.

Orders rolled in for the holidays and for bridal parties, keeping the girls busy.

Delco Beads donates a percentage of every sale to charity.

“We wanted to help those who are less fortunate and help those in need,” said Ava.

Sophia added, “You don’t know if it can happen to you, so I think it’s a good thing to do it for others.”

Their attitude is appreciated by several charities, including Grands Stepping Up in Delaware County.

“It was very refreshing to see stellar youth just showing up and making a difference in the community,” said Grands Stepping Up founder and president Karen Barnes.

Delco Beads can be found on Instagram. Their aunt supervises the account.
