Weekend Brings 454 New COVID-19 Cases to Delaware County as Case Numbers Remain Relatively High

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Monday, April 12, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Monday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,356 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 825 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported April 12:

The health department also reported there have been 454 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported between Friday, April 9 and Monday, April 12.  Total cases, as of April 12, are 43,771.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 696, affecting 10.72 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,464 cases reported, or 7.79 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 930 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The health department was reporting a 89.25 percent recovery rate as of April 9.

The county has had 224,274 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 88.94 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, April 12, are:

  • Under 10: 1,956 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.948 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,346 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,403 cases
  • 40 to 49: 5,945 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,732 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,222 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,624 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,590 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 12, there were 11,332 new cases of COVID-19 statewide between Friday, April 9 and Monday, April 12. Total cases now number 1,075,424.

The state is reporting 42 additional COVID-19 deaths between Friday, April 9 and  Monday, April 12. The statewide death toll is now 25,406.
