The Weekend Saw 301 New Positive Cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County and 4 Deaths

Four COVID-19-related deaths have been reported since Friday, April 23,  according to the Chester County Health Department.

There was 1 fatality from Chester, 1 from  Concord, 1 from Sharon Hill and 1 from Swarthmore.

As of Monday, April 26, the health department was reporting a total of 1,375 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 826 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department also reported there have been 301 new positive cases of COVID-19 between Friday, April 23 and Monday, April 26.  Total cases, as of April 26 are 46,243.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 726, affecting 11.18 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,845 cases reported, or 8.25 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 960 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 231,974 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 86.99 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, April 23, are:

  • Under 10: 2,218 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,455 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,741 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,825 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.249 cases
  • 50 to 59: 7,040 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,400 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,691 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,619 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 26, there were 1,881  new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,136,057.

The state is reporting total COVID-19 deaths at 25,988.
