COVID-19 Daily Cases Exceeded 200 Friday With Case Loads Still High in Delaware County

Three COVID-19-related death were reported in Delaware County for Friday, April 16, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Friday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,365 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Deaths were reported from Upper Darby,  Chester and Radnor.

Of those, 825 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department also reported there have been 233 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Friday, April 16 since the previous day. Total cases, as of April 16, are 44,683.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 712, affecting 10.96 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,581 cases reported, or 7.97 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 942 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 226,877 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 88.08 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, April 16, are:

  • Under 10: 2,047 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,118 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,507 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,558 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.061 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,846 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,296 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,641 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,604 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 16, there were 5,650 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,098502.

The state is reporting 56additional COVID-19 deaths for April 16. The statewide death toll is 25,622.
