In Two-Day Span, Health Department Reports 413 New COVID-19 Cases for Delaware County

Two additional COVID-19-related deaths, both from Upper Darby, were reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, March 31.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,341 COVID-19 fatalities in the county.

Of those, 821 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 413 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported between Monday, March 29 and Wednesday, March 31. Total cases are now 41,777.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 655, affecting 10 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,226 cases reported, or 7.5 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 897 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 218,693 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.58 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, March 31, are:

  • Under 10: 1,784 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.579 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,999 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 6,103 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,666 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,485 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,039 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,566 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,551 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 31, there were 4,557 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,024,857.

The state is reporting 44 additional COVID-19 deaths for Wednesday, March 31. Statewide death toll is now 25,093.
