Six More COVID-Related Deaths Reported in Delaware County, With 155 New Cases Friday

Six more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Friday, March 26.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,338 fatalities in the county.

Of those, 820 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

5 deaths were reported from Middletown

1 was reported from Haverford

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 155 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Friday, March 26. Total cases are now 40,942.

Prospect Park has the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 641, affecting 9.87 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,120 cases reported, or 7.37 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 885 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 216,416  people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.23 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, March 26, are:

  • Under 10: 1,709 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.425 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,871 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,963 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,549 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,368 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,970 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,544 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,537 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 26, there were 4,927 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number1,005,167.

The state is reporting 36 additional COVID-19 deaths for Friday, March 26. Statewide death toll is now 24,953.
