New COVID-19 Cases Stay Above 100 for Friday, March 12, in Delaware County

Seven additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported Friday, March 12, in Delaware County:

2 in Ridley

1 in Upper Darby

1 in Nether Providence

1 in Concord

1 in Radnor

1 in Chadds Ford

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,305 fatalities.

Of those, 803 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 123 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Friday, March 12. Total cases are now 39,391.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,111, or 9.66 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,904 cases reported, or 7.11 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 857 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 210,228 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.05 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, March 12, are:

  • Under 10: 1,580 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.175 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,602 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,750 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,355 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,138 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,803 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,482 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,502 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 12, that there were 3,074 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number  961,456.

The state is reporting a total of 24,530 COVID-19 deaths as of March 12.
