51 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Friday in Delaware County, Total Now at 11,986

There were 51 new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday, Oct. 9 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Tuesday. Total number of cases is now 11,986, according to the Chester County Health Department.

No additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County.  The total stands at 799.

Of those, 615 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 547 cases, affecting 4.77 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,837, affecting 2.21 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 304 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 114, 795 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 84.48 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 2,190 cases (up 13)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 9, that there were 1,380 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 169,308.

There were 9 new deaths reported statewide as of
Friday, Oct. 9 since these statistics were last reported Thursday, with total deaths listed at 8,308.
