Low Level of New Cases Reported Tuesday in Delaware County, at 76, No New Deaths Reported

There were no new COVID-19-related deaths reported Tuesday, March 9 in Delaware County.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,294 fatalities.

Of those, 801 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 76 new COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported between Tuesday, March 9. Total cases are now 39,000.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,101, or 9.57 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,855 cases reported, or 7.06 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 849 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 209,130 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.79 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, March 9, are:

  • Under 10: 1,557 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.104 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,537 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,696 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,311 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,084 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,755 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,456 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,496 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 9, that there were 2,975 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 953,136.

There were 40 additional COVID-19 deaths reported March 9, for a new total of 24,396.
