Health Department Reports 129 New Positive COVID-19 Cases Friday for Delaware County

No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Friday, March 19.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,322 fatalities.

Of those, 811 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported March 19:

There were 129 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported for Friday, March 19. Total cases are now 40,100.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,116, or 9.7 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,006 cases reported, or 7.24 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 865 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 212,964 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.44 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, March 19, are:

  • Under 10: 1,622 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.284 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,717 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,848 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,442 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,253 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,898 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,511 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,521 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 19, there were 3,445 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 980,302.

The state is reporting 35 additional COVID-19 deaths for Friday, March 19. Statewide death toll is now 24,741.
